Mark Meservy has spent most of his career as a graphic designer. For many years he’s wanted to create a children's book that would inspire curiosity and a love of learning.

About five years ago, he came up with the idea for the What Do You See? What Do You Learn? series and began designing the look and feel of each book. He wanted children to explore the fascinating worlds of insects, amphibians, fish, birds, mammals, and reptiles in a fun and engaging way.

Once he’d created the visual design for each book, he invited his son, Blake, to join the project. Blake researched and wrote the content that brings each book to life. Five years later, they’re thrilled to see Mark’s dream become a reality.

We hope you and the young readers in your life—whether they're your children, grandchildren, students, or friends—enjoy the adventure of looking closer, asking questions, and uncovering fascinating discoveries as much as we enjoyed creating these books for you.

Blake Messrvy spends much of his time as a flight instructor as he works towards the hours needed for him to begin flying for a regional carrier. He also keeps busy with his two young active boys, and

Jenna Vasquez is a full-time content manager, freelance editor, and most importantly, mom. She served as editor-in-chief for the What Do You See, What Do You Learn series, helping refine the copy and design elements to bring each book to life. When she's not editing, you can find her hanging out with her family (and cat), rooting for the Dodgers, or planning her next trip to the beach.

Shayne Clarke was excited to contribute to this project by writing the introductions for the books. Shayne is a writer and falconer. Shayne’s love for all things nature began well before he turned 10 when he brought his first hawk home to train. He has trained and flown many hawks and falcons over the last 50 years. He is currently flying and hunting with a peregrine falcon like those mentioned in the Birds book.
